Internship Program Overview
The AU Internship Program is a full-time engagement designed to provide students and recent graduates with an opportunity to complement their academic knowledge with practical work experience. Interns will:
- Gain professional exposure within the AU.
- Work in a multicultural environment.
- Develop personal and professional skills.
- Contribute to various AU projects and initiatives.
This program serves as a training ground for future African leaders and offers a chance to work in one of the AU’s many departments.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program OR hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
- Be citizens of an AU Member State.
- Be full-time students currently enrolled in their final year or graduate school.
- Be fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
- Be no older than 32 years at the time of selection.
- Demonstrate high moral conduct and integrity.
- Have no prior convictions for serious criminal offenses.
- No prior work experience is required.

Internship Terms & Conditions
- Financial Responsibility: Interns must cover their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
- Visa Support: The AU will assist in obtaining entry and residence visas.
- No Travel Compensation: The AU does not cover travel costs.
- Duration: The internship lasts three months, with a possible one-time renewal.
- Medical Insurance: Interns must secure their own medical insurance coverage.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong email and internet navigation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Fluency in at least one AU official language (knowledge of additional languages is an advantage)
