The Health Coverage Fellowship 2025, hosted by the Center for Health Communication at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is an exclusive opportunity designed to enhance your reporting skills in health journalism.

About the Fellowship

Each year, thirteen journalists from print, broadcast, online news outlets, and freelancers are selected for an intensive nine-day, fully-funded training in Boston. The fellowship provides an in-depth exploration of pressing health topics through firsthand experiences, expert lectures, and mentorship.

What to Expect

During the program, journalists engage with health officials, practitioners, researchers, and patients to cover topics such as:

• Mental health and pandemics
• Breakthrough medical treatments
• Climate change and its impact on health
• Healthcare disparities
• Women’s health and aging

Beyond classroom learning, participants will also:

• Walk the streets with doctors treating the homeless
• Visit cutting-edge labs producing stem cells and vaccines
• Gain access to an elite network of health experts and sources

Fellows leave the program not only with story ideas but also with a year-long mentorship from Larry Tye, a veteran health journalist and the fellowship director.
